About
Meet the Artist
Lauren Minihane - McGrath
Born and raised in Brighton, Ma. Lauren Minihane McGrath’s life as an artist began in 2017 when her children gave her a set of paints and brushes for Mother’s Day. No one could have guessed how this gift, meant to be a mild diversion, would spark a transformation in her view of herself and the world around her. Anxious to share her love of art and its transformative properties, she began organizing informal community art events for children in her Brighton neighborhood.
When the opioid epidemic hit Brighton, upending the lives of those she knew, including her own son, Lauren realized that art could be a lifeline for young people at risk of falling into drug use. Through her own experience, she recognized that art was a powerful means of self-expression and storytelling, especially when words fail, as they often do for children.

About
Mission and Vision
“Spark A Life With Art” is a dedicated nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity. Our mission is focused on empowering younger generations through artistic exploration, aiming to keep them creatively engaged and away from societal pitfalls including the opioid epidemic. By providing opportunities for self-expression through art, we inspire individuals to channel their emotions and creativity positively, fostering personal growth & community connection.
Our vision is to keep our youth’s hands busy with paintbrushes and artistic challenges. By providing the right materials, we aim to help each individual discover their own spark or gift within. We believe everyone has a purpose, and together, we can make a difference. Through early intervention, our goal is to change the course of our nation’s opioid epidemic by focusing on our future generation, instilling hope—hope bright enough to shine through the ashes of addiction.
Make a Donation
Art helps relieve stress and pressure for both children and adults and when we value children’s creativity, we help them feel valued as people, raising their self-esteem.
